Recipal is a recipe management service operated by Newcurrent AB. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data controller
Newcurrent AB is the data controller for the personal data processed through Recipal. For privacy-related questions, contact us at simon@recipal.se.
What data we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address, display name, and Google account identifier. This is used to create and manage your account.
Recipes
Recipes you create or import are stored and linked to your account. You can choose to make recipes public or keep them private.
Shopping lists
Shopping list contents are stored and linked to your account.
Preferences
Your language and unit system preferences are stored to personalize the service.
Legal basis
We process your personal data based on contract performance (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) — the data is necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
Third parties
We use Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in, Google provides us with your basic profile information. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing of your data.
OpenAI
When you import a recipe, the recipe text is sent to OpenAI for parsing into a structured format. Only the recipe content is sent — no personal information. OpenAI's API data usage policy prohibits them from using API inputs for training.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data — you can see your profile in settings
- Export your data — use the data export feature in settings to download all your data
- Delete your account — use the account deletion feature in settings to permanently remove your personal data. Public recipes you created will be kept anonymously.
- Lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) at imy.se
Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your personal data, private recipes, and shopping lists are permanently deleted. Public recipes are kept but anonymized — they will no longer be linked to your identity.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the service.
